The Faery Folk® Collectible Dolls Pass Standard Consumer Safety Tests!

Dervish Media continues to take the utmost care in the execution of the Faerie Works, Inc. licensable property, The Legends of the Faery Folk®. In early August 2005, after extensive toy safety testing for the United States market, SGS of Hong Kong has issued certification in the product testing categories of ASTM F963 - 96a & CPSC for the collectible doll series.

The first series of Faery Folk collectible dolls, which are part of the Legends of the Faery Folk® children's property, are now certified to comply with the codes set forth by the Consumer Products Safety Commission of the U.S.A.

Although these tests are voluntary, Dervish Media is committed to maintaining the highest standards in the execution of its children's media products. Dervish Media submitted the Faery Folk collectible dolls for safety testing to be conducted regarding their Physical & Mechanical construction, flammability level, and the lead and heavy metal quantities in their materials and paints.

The collectible dolls' materials and packaging were certified under the ASTM & CPSC standards for entry into the U.S. market.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government created in 1972 to protect "against unreasonable risks of injuries associated with consumer products".

ASTM International is an international voluntary standards organization that develops and produces technical standards for materials, products, systems and services. It was formed in 1898 in the United States as the American Society for Testing and Materials by a group of scientists and engineers, led by Charles Benjamin Dudley, who wanted to address the frequent rail breaks plaguing the fast-growing railroad industry. The group developed a standard for the steel used to fabricate rails.

Today, ASTM International maintains more than 12,000 standards. The Annual Book of ASTM Standards consists of 77 volumes.

ASTM Standards compliance is voluntary but in the United States, with the 1995 passage of the National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act, the U.S. government is required to use privately developed standards whenever possible. As a result, ASTM Standards have been incorporated into or are referred to by many federal regulations.
